At the entryway to Buddhist temples in South Korea, worshippers are greeted by colorful figures. Sometimes friendly, sometimes monstrous, they are meant to remind people that one’s inner character must be improved by human intent and effort. But, of course fallen sinful mankind can’t perfect itself. Here’s some good news: “But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known . . .
