LYA Keynotes 2026

The keynote addresses of LYA 2026 are designed to anchor the entire convention in its theme, In the Beginning, calling us back to the foundational truths of the Christian faith. In a world crowded with voices and competing explanations, these keynotes invite us to begin where Scripture begins—with God as Creator, the source of truth, and the One who gives meaning to human life. Our keynote speakers will help set the theological tone for the week, encouraging humility before God’s Word, confidence in His revelation, and joyful wonder at His creative work. These addresses will frame our conversations, shape our worship, and remind us that all wisdom, identity, and hope find their proper beginning in Him.

Keynote 1 – I Don’t Know Anything: Searching for Truth in God’s Word and His World

Professor Chad Heins

Jesus tells us that He is the way and the truth and the life and yet the world around us tells us that science is the only way to learn the truth about life.  This talk will be about an effort to know the Creator better by studying His Word and His world and the challenges that arise from doing both.

Keynote 2: You Are a Special Creation

Dr. Doyle Holbird

The world follows along with the theory of evolution, which says that this world and everything in it is the result of a great cosmic accident.  God’s Word tells us that we are not an accident.  Rather, you are the result of His great creativity.
