I do not always mind when someone tells me the ending of a movie before I see it. For me, it doesn’t take away from the experience, because I still want to see how it gets to the that point. I admit it. I don’t mind spoilers.
Today in our nation there are many people nervous and even scared about the outcome of our national elections. Everyone probably agrees that we are ready for them to be over. But, what will the outcome be? How will the decisions made by our friends and neighbors affect us in the future? It is very easy to become wrapped up in the emotions of politics, wondering what the future will hold for us and for our country.
Spoiler alert: God wins. No, God is not running for office, but He is in control. And He will continue to rule over this world until it ends. No matter who is elected or which laws are passed, God remains in control. God has promised His followers, I will never leave you, and I will never forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5 EHV) God will be with you whether or not the elections go the way you would like. Our gracious Father invites you to bring your concerns to Him. He will see you through any trial and comfort you. When my worries within me were many, your comfort brought joy to my soul. (Psalm 94:19 EHV)
There will always be concerns for Christians as we journey through this earthly life. Disease, unrest and even persecution should not cause us worry. Our Savior has promised His Church, “Surely I am with you always until the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20 EHV) God wins.
Our Savior, Jesus Christ, gave His life for you. He lived a perfect life in your place. He willingly gave His life to pay for your sins. And He physically rose from the dead as proof. No election, no person, no group, no nation, can change what our Savior has done for us. God wins. And that means we, as Christians, also win.
