The Ottesen Museum has programs created to highlight specific aspects of history. All are available at the museum and some can also be taken “on the road”.
- Life in a Log Cabin – Learn what it was like to live in a pioneer log cabin in the American Midwest in the mid 19th century. The program can focus on the general pioneer experience or specifically on Norwegian American immigrants. Best on site but can be done off site.
- Synod History – An overview of of ELS history from the early 1800s until now. On or off site.
- Preserving and Protecting Parish History – Learn the whys and hows of preserving your congregation’s history for future generations. On or off site.
- Pioneer Pastors’ Wives: Linka Preus and Elisabeth Koren – Hear the story of these two women from their own words. On or off site.
- Koren’s Kids – Three scavenger hunt type activities which encourage children to explore the museum and its displays. On site only.
- Teaching Church History in the Parish – Geared mainly for pastors and teachers, even lay members can benefit from learning why we should teach church history and receiving information on resources. On or off site.
