“I was an atheist. Now I’m a Christian.” Public school teacher Ramon and his wife Socorro, were among the first Lutheran Christians in Tarapoto, Peru. They learned the Gospel from American missionaries and Peruvian pastors who came from Lima. Here’s the full quote from Ramon on the day he was baptized: “I was an atheist. Now I’m a Christian. It’s a miracle!” A miracle, but not a surprise. After all, “faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ (Romans 10).’
