Light for My Path Daily Devotion

Bible Reading

Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak to the heart of Jerusalem and call out to her. Her warfare really is over. Her guilt is fully paid for. Yes, she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins. (Isaiah 40:1-2 EHV)

Hymn  ELH 102:1-2  Comfort, Comfort Ye My People

“Comfort, comfort, ye My people,
Speak ye peace,” thus saith our God.
“Comfort those who sit in darkness,
Mourning ‘neath their sorrows’ load.
Speak ye to Jerusalem
Of the peace that waits for them;
Tell her that her sins I cover
And her warfare now is over.”

Yea, her sins our God will pardon,
Blotting out each dark misdeed;
All that well deserved His anger
He no more will see or heed.
She hath suffered many a day;
Now her griefs have passed away.
God will change her pining sadness
Into ever-springing gladness.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Jesus to be my Savior and for the comfort His perfect life, death and resurrection give to me in faith. Amen.
