First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all those who are in authority, in order that we might live a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Timothy 2:1-4)
Gracious Heavenly Father, You have instructed us to pray for our leaders and all who are in authority. We ask Your blessing today on our president and vice-president as they begin their work of serving our nation. Give them wisdom to fulfill their duties, uphold the laws of our land and protect the people of our nation. Let all be done according to Your will, that Your Church may flourish in freedom as Your Word is proclaimed for the salvation of many. We ask all these things in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In His name we pray. Amen.
