Heavenly Father, on this anniversary of sadness, violence 
and destruction, we ask for Your guidance as we continue to face threats to our safety and to the safety of many others in our world. We pray especially for our brothers and sisters in the faith who are being persecuted and martyred throughout our world. Give them strength to continue standing firm against all who seek to destroy their faith and Your Word. Bring the light of Your saving Gospel to all who live in the darkness of sin and unbelief, that all may hear of Your great love for them in sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to take away the sins of the world. Bless our nation and give our leaders wisdom to lead justly and honestly. Protect us from all who would harm us and lead them to repentance. Help Your Church to grow in faithfulness, always looking to Your Holy Word for guidance. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
