Gracious Father, we come before you as people of a nation bitterly divided by politics, weary and disillusioned. We ask an extra measure of wisdom to help us begin to heal our divisions, that we might again be able to work together for the peace and prosperity of our country. We ask your blessings upon all our leaders: our president, members of congress and all who serve us at all levels of government. Remind them that both their power and their responsibility are granted through You. Give us the desire to pray for them and for each other, granting wisdom, patience and courage to all. Let Your Word be the basis and guide for all we do. Grant peace to Your people in the sure and certain knowledge of forgiveness and salvation in our Savior, Jesus Christ. In His name we pray. Amen.
