Exploring our Evangelical Lutheran Hymnary (Ben Faugstad) – Why are these hymns included and others missing? What makes for a good hymn? What other resources are part of our hymnary and why? These questions and more will be explored in this topic. Please come with questions and be ready for surprises!
UFOs, Aliens, and God’s Word (Patrick Ernst) – Do UFO sightings and alien encounters present a challenge to the Christian faith? Come explore a biblical understanding of the universe and life within it, then discuss UFO reports in light of our faith.
Get Rich Quick! (James Kassera) – How to adopt a Biblical perspective on wealth while developing sound principles to be good stewards of the money God puts into our care. A proper understanding of godly wealth truly allows us to “get rich quick.”
Where Was Her Angel? (Josh Mayer) – Warning: For mature audience only. Though the tragic account of Jephthah’s daughter makes modern Christians squeamish, together we’ll discover how God used one girl’s sacrifice to change her world. How will God use you?
Justification in Art (Peter Faugstad) – You know how to define “justification.” But what if you had to draw it? Would everybody’s drawing of justification look about the same? In this session, we will take a look at some paintings by Lutheran artists that depict the doctrine of justification. We will also review some examples that get this doctrine wrong. See if you can see the difference!
Conform or Transform? (Ben Wiechmann) -As we seek to live out our faith in today’s world and culture, how “Christian” do we have to be? How do we balance holding onto our Lutheran identity and living as salt and light in a world that doesn’t even know what Lutheran means?
God Loves Nobodies! (Luke Ulrich) – Do you ever struggle with feelings of being small or worthless? Do you struggle with self-esteem and wonder what your place might be in this big world? Many wrestle with such feelings. Many think they are unimportant or won’t amount to anything. God has a message for such people: He is the Loving God of Nobodies!
The Coming War? Definitely. (David Thompson) – We are familiar with wars in other parts of the world and in the past. But here? Yes, and you have no choice. It is not a matter of if you will be immersed in a war, but where, how, and against whom. In fact, if you choose not to fight in this war, you will definitely lose. Survival, winning, and coming out unscathed is the hope – a hope that is certain in Christ.

Why the Bible Can be Trusted (Paul Webber) – You’ve probably heard people say things like, “The Bible is full of errors.” But your pastor says that the Bible can be trusted. More than that, it is the inspired, error-free, word of God. They can’t both be right. In this session we will be discussing how the Bible came into existence, how it has been passed down to us, and looking at the evidence which shows that the text of the Bible we have today is reliable, and can be trusted.

Broken Family—Unbroken Soul: Surviving Family Strife and Building a Better Future (Daniel Hartwig) – Dysfunction in our families and homes can make our lives difficult. Let’s study God’s Word to see how God helps us overcome dysfunction and build a better life for ourselves and/or help us encourage our friends so that they can overcome as well.
God’s Dreams in Your Heart (Nate Abrahamson) – Did you know that there is at least one special way God is on display in you? It’s true! (1 Corinthians 12:7) In this sectional, we’ll unwrap your God given gifts, embracing the work God is doing in and through you!
Distinctively Human: Addressing Transhumanism from Genesis 1-2 (Piet Van Kampen) – Transhumanism is the belief that humanity’s next stage of evolution will be to become “posthuman,” broadening human potential through the use of technology to overcome aging, suffering, and even death itself. Sounds like science fiction, right? While transhumanists are pretty “out there” in terms of their theories, the underlying assumptions behind their worldview are things we all wrestle with as sinful human beings. We will go back to the beginning and study Genesis 1-2 with an eye toward recovering the godly distinctions that make us who we are as human beings in God’s creation.
