Shalem is awaiting his liver-transplant surgery. The surgery has been rescheduled for next week. We will update you with more specific information as we receive it. The official cause for the postponement is to allow Shalem’s mother more time to heal after her liver biopsy (to determine if she is an acceptable donor).
Pastor Solomon visited with the family and their doctor at the end of last week. Shalem has been diagnosed with Wilson’s Disease, which has caused liver failure.
Thank you for your generosity in supporting this effort. We are getting close to the amount needed to pay for the surgery. Shalem’s family has borrowed about $10,000 of the $50,000. needed from a bank to help save their son’s life. Shalem’s father is an electrician. An electrician in India, on average, makes less than $1,000. per year. We are hoping to have enough to help relieve this financial burden as well.
Please continue to remember Shalem, his family and his doctors in your prayers as they await the surgeries. The transplant will take about 12 hours and will involve a team of doctors and other medical personnel.
