Help for Shalem – Update 3

Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever! (Psalm 106:1)

One week ago, God placed before us a task which seemed impossible.  $50,000 was needed immediately to help a young boy in India to receive a liver transplant. But, with God, all things are possible. We are pleased announce that the Lord has supplied sufficient funds for our brother in the faith, Shalem, to receive a liver transplant! Funds were raised by our brothers and sisters in the LMSI, family members of Shalem and by members and friends of the ELS. Some grant money from the Indian government has also been promised. As of today, $14,635.has been received by the ELS for Shalem. We are transferring the funds to India every few days.

Shalem entered the hospital today to determine the best donor for his transplant.  We will keep you updated as we receive information about his surgery date and condition.

Note the following messages from Rev. Steve Petersen, ELS Board for World Outreach Administrator and from Pastor Solomon Mamidi, Shalem’s pastor:

Prayers are answered!  It appears that funds sent by ELS have been supplemented by funds raised locally in India.  I assume by “trusts” and “Government” Solomon is referring to local charities and governmental assistance for the needy.  I will explore this further to clarify.

No doubt there will be ongoing expenses connected with this case, so we are still receiving funds. If we receive donations above what is needed for Shalem, we will hold them in reserve for medical emergencies among other Indian families.

ELS pastors, thank you for your support, and for encouraging members to help this Indian boy.  More information will be provided as we learn it.

“The Lord is good to all and his tender mercies are over all his works.” (Psalm 145:9)  Generous ELS donors have been part of God’s blessing on a young life in India.  Please continue to pray for Shalem and his family as they face surgery soon.

In Christ,
Steve
___________
Dear Rev.Steven Petersen,

Greetings in the name of Wonderful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Thank you very much for the donations for Shalem’s surgery.
We all made our efforts to meet the expenses in various ways like, personal,  our churches, trusts, Government,  by today we got the sufficient amount for Shalem’s Surgery.
It is God’s doing in the life of the Shalem’s family.  They are admitting in the
hospital for tests tomorrow(Friday).  Soon after the tests, they will go for surgery.
I will write a thanking letter to all the donors for Shalem’s surgery.

Once again thank you personally and all the ELS officials each and every one who participated in this great work with kindness.

In His Service,

Solomon.
