Greetings to all of you in the traditional way at this special time of the year: He is risen! He is risen indeed!
Now let the heav’ns be joyful,
Let earth her song begin,
Let all the world keep triumph
And all that is therein.
Let all things, seen and unseen,
Their notes of gladness blend;
For Christ the Lord hath risen;
Our joy that hath no end.
(ELH 356: 3)
John A. Moldstad

The Board for World Outreach assists in the spreading of the gospel throughout the world. There are seven fields of work currently under the supervision of this board: Korea, India, Latvia, Czechia, Ukraine (Gift of Life), Peru, and Chile. This year the Peruvian church celebrates the milestone of its fiftieth anniversary. This church body now has its own administrative structure and seminary. The ELS continues to serve as mentor and guide, but no longer has a full-time missionary in the country. We thank God for his blessings as the good news of Jesus continues to be proclaimed to thousands in Peru.
On March 18, 2018, Pres. Moldstad preached and presented at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Cold Spring, Minnesota. The congregation is served by Pastor Rod Flohr. Pastor Flohr’s wife, Beth, is the director of the child care center, which is adjacent to the church and is owned and operated by Gloria Dei. At the present time, the center, which serves both infants and three- and four-year-olds, has an enrollment of 50+.
As we come to the close of the academic year for our synod’s two institutions of Bethany Lutheran College and Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary, we ask for the prayers of our people. Our college, like other institutions across the country, faces enrollment challenges. Our seminary is in the process of calling a new professor. We urge all to keep these matters in your daily petitions to our gracious Lord.
We’re just over the $515,000 mark. As we prepare to celebrate our Lord’s victory over sin and death for us, let’s be sure to give him praise by generously supporting those who proclaim the Easter message on our behalf. Go to www.els.org/donate or give the giving counselor a call at 507-344-7311 to discuss even more options.
The 2017 convention authorized the Board for Christian Service to seek funding for the military monument project. At the urging of the Board for Christian Service, Pres. Moldstad appointed a Military Monument Fundraising Committee. This committee will be chaired by the Rev. Glenn Obenberger, and includes members Denny Behr and Mike O’Neal.
A new version of the 2001 ELS Catechism and Explanation is available. This version includes the proof passages in the new Evangelical Heritage Version (EHV) translation. Hardcover print copies are available through Lulu, and electronic versions are available on iBookstore, Kindle, and Nook.
