Light for My Path Daily Devotion

Bible Reading

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes—to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed by faith, for faith, just as it is written, “The righteous will live by faith.” (Romans 1:16-17 EHV)

Hymn  ELH 228:1-2  Almighty God, Thy Word is Cast

Almighty God, Thy Word is cast
Like seed into the ground;
Now let the dew of heaven descend
And righteous fruits abound.
Let not the foe of Christ and man
This holy seed remove,
But give it root in every heart
To bring forth fruits of love.

Let not the world’s deceitful cares
The rising plant destroy,
But let it yield a hundredfold
The fruits of peace and joy.
Oft as the precious seed is sown,
Thy quickening grace bestow
That all whose souls the truth receive
Its saving power may know.

Prayer

O God, through your holy and precious Word you have created and sustained faith in me. Help me to hold on to your promises as I journey through this life. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
