Light for My Path Daily Devotion

Bible Reading

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us get rid of every burden and the sin that so easily ensnares us, and let us run with patient endurance the race that is laid out for us. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, who is the author of our faith and the one who brings it to its goal. In view of the joy set before him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of God’s throne. (Hebrews 12:1-2 EHV)

Hymn ELH 523:1-2 In the Cross of Christ I Glory

In the cross of Christ I glory,
Tow’ring o’er the wrecks of time.
All the light of sacred story
Gathers round its head sublime.

When the woes of life o’ertake me,
Hopes deceive, and fears annoy,
Never shall the cross forsake me;
Lo, it glows with peace and joy.

Prayer

Jesus, Savior of all, thank you for enduring the shame of the cross, dying to pay for all my sins. Help me to overcome the temptations to sin and forgive me when I fall. Amen.
