Light for My Path Daily Devotion

Bible Reading

The city he founded is on the holy mountains. The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things are spoken about you, O City of God. (Psalm 87:1-3 EHV)

Hymn ELH 214:1,4 Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken

Glorious things of thee are spoken,
Zion, city of our God;
He whose word cannot be broken
Formed thee for His own abode.
On the Rock of Ages founded,
What can shake thy sure repose?
With salvation’s walls surrounded,
Thou may smile at all thy foes.

Savior, since of Zion’s city
I through grace a member am,
Let the world deride or pity,
I will glory in Thy name.
Fading is the worldling’s pleasure,
All his boasted pomp and show;
Solid joys and lasting treasure
None but Zion’s children know.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, You have made me a citizen of Heaven by grace through faith in Your Son, Jesus. Guard and protect my faith from the assaults of the devil and bring me safely to the Heavenly Zion. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
