Light for My Path Daily Devotion

Bible Reading

Even when you were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ by forgiving us all our trespasses. God erased the record of our debt brought against us by his legal demands. This record stood against us, but he took it away by nailing it to the cross. After disarming the rulers and authorities, he made a public display of them by triumphing over them in Christ. (Colossians 2:13-15 EHV)

Hymn  ELH 343:2-3  Christ Jesus Lay in Death’s Strong Bands

No son of man could conquer death,
Such mischief sin had wrought us,
For innocence dwelt not on earth,
And therefore death had brought us
Into thraldom from of old
And ever grew more strong and bold
And kept us in its bondage.
Alleluia!

But Jesus Christ, God’s only Son,
To our low state descended,
The cause of death He has undone,
Its pow’r forever ended,
Ruined all its right and claim
And left it nothing but the name,
Its sting is lost forever.
Alleluia!

Prayer

Jesus, my Savior, thank You for Your sacrifice on the cross, which paid for all my sins. Amen.
