Light for My Path Daily Devotion
Bible Reading
As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and that at the end of time he will stand over the dust. Then, even after my skin has been destroyed, nevertheless, in my own flesh I will see God. I myself will see him. My own eyes will see him, and not as a stranger. My emotions are in turmoil within me. (Job 19:25-27 EHV)
Hymn ELH 351:1-2,8 I Know That My Redeemer Lives
I know that my Redeemer lives;
What comfort this sweet sentence gives!
He lives, He lives, who once was dead;
He lives, my ever-living Head.
He lives triumphant from the grave;
He lives eternally to save.
He lives all-glorious in the sky;
He lives exalted there on high.
He lives, all glory to His name!
He lives, my Jesus, still the same.
O the sweet joy this sentence gives:
“I know that my Redeemer lives!”
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to trust in Your promise that death is not the end for me, and that my body will rise from its grave on the Last Day, just as Jesus was raised on Easter. Give me joy in knowing that You always keep Your promises. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
