Light for My Path Daily Devotion

Bible Reading

[Jesus said] “Watch! Be alert and pray, because you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going away on a journey. When he left his home, he put his servants in charge and assigned what each one was to do. He also commanded the doorkeeper to keep watch. Therefore keep watch, because you do not know when the owner of the house is coming: whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or early in the morning. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: Keep watch!” (Mark 13:33-37 EHV)

Hymn  ELH 89:1,5  Jesus Came, the Heavens Adoring

Jesus came, the heavens adoring,
Came with peace from realms on high;
Jesus came for man’s redemption,
Lowly came on earth to die,
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Came in deep humility.

Jesus comes on clouds triumphant
When the heavens shall pass away.
Jesus comes again in glory;
Let us, then, our homage pay,
“Alleluia” ever singing
Till the dawn of endless day.

Prayer

Gracious Savior, keep me awake and alert, so that I may welcome You with joy when you return to take me and all believers to be with You in Heaven. Amen.
