Light for My Path Daily Devotion

Bible Reading

Do not pay anyone back evil for evil. Focus on those things that everyone considers noble. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, maintain peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath. For it is written, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay,”says the Lord.  But: If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink. For by doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (Romans 12:17-21 EHV)

Hymn ELH 383:6,9 Our Father, Thou in Heaven Above

Forgive our sins, that they no more
May grieve and haunt us as before,
As we forgive their trespasses
Who unto us have done amiss;
Thus let us dwell in charity
And serve each other willingly.

Amen! That is, so let it be!
Strengthen our faith and trust in Thee
That we may doubt not, but believe
That what we ask we shall receive.
Thus in Thy name and at Thy word
We say: “Amen. Now hear us, Lord.”

Prayer

Jesus, Savior of the world, help me to love my enemies, showing them Your love through me, that they might be moved to hear Your Word and believe. Amen.
