Light for My Path Daily Devotion

Bible Reading

[Jesus said] Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. But I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was dressed like one of these. If this is how God clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will he clothe you, you of little faith? Do not constantly chase after what you will eat or what you will drink. Do not be worried about it. To be sure, the nations of the world chase after all of these things, but your Father knows that you need them. Instead, continue to seek the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to you. (Luke 12: 27-31 EHV)

Hymn ELH 468:3,5 All Depends on Our Possessing

Many spend their lives in fretting
Over trifles and in getting
Things that lack all solid ground.
I shall strive to win a treasure
That will bring me lasting pleasure
And that now is seldom found.

Well He knows what best to grant me;
All the longing hopes that haunt me,
Joy and sorrow, have their day.
I shall doubt His wisdom never,
As God wills, so be it ever;
I commit to Him my way.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, You provide all I need each day. Help me to be thankful for all that You provide never worrying about my future needs. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
