Light for My Path Daily Devotion

Bible Reading

Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” The angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Listen, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age even though she was called barren, and this is her sixth month. For nothing will be impossible for God.” Then Mary said, “See, I am the Lord’s servant. May it happen to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her. (Luke 1:34-38 EHV)

Hymn ELH 113:1-2 A Great and Mighty Wonder

A great and mighty wonder,
A full and holy cure:
The Virgin bears the Infant
With virgin honor pure!
Repeat the hymn again:
“To God on high be glory
And peace on earth to men!”

The Word becomes incarnate
And yet remains on high,
And cherubim sing anthems
To shepherds from the sky.
Repeat the hymn again:
“To God on high be glory
And peace on earth to men!”

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son, born of Mary, to be my Savior. Help me to humbly accept Your Word as truth. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
