Light for My Path Daily Devotion

Bible Reading

For to us a child is born. To us a son is given. The authority to rule will rest on his shoulders. He will be named: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no limit to his authority and no end to the peace he brings. He will rule on David’s throne and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness from now on, into eternity. The zeal of the Lord of Armies will accomplish this. (Isaiah 9:6-7 EHV)

Hymn ELH 99:1-2 The Advent of Our King

The advent of our King
Our prayers must now employ,
And we must hymns of welcome sing
In strains of holy joy.

The everlasting Son
Incarnate deigns to be;
Himself a servant’s form puts on
To set His servants free.

Prayer

O Jesus, Mighty God, You were born into this world to bring an everlasting peace through Your perfect life and innocent death. Prepare my heart through repentance and forgiveness to remember Your birth. Amen.
