Light for My Path Daily Devotion

Bible Reading

Then Mary said, My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior, because he has looked with favor on the humble state of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed, because the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm. He has scattered those who were proud in the thoughts of their hearts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones. He has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, but the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the aid of his servant Israel, remembering his mercy, as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his offspring forever. (Luke 1:46-55 EHV)

Hymn ELH 268: 1 On Mary, Virgin Undefiled

On Mary, Virgin undefiled,
Did God bestow His favor;
She bore a Son, the spotless Child,
To Him be praise forever!
He hath us all from sin set free;
Our stay be He,
And rest eternal give us!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for fulfilling all Your promises and the prophecies of the Messiah who was to come. Give me joy in Your Word, as You gave to Mary. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.
