Light for My Path Daily Devotion

Bible Reading

So then, how can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one about whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news of peace, who preach the gospel of good things!” But not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who believed our message?” So then, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message comes through the word of Christ. (Romans 10:14-17 EHV)

Hymn ELH 505:4,5 O Lord, Who in Thy Love Divine

O Thou, who didst at Pentecost Send down from heav’n the Holy Ghost That He might with Thy Church abide Forever to defend and guide, Illuminate and strengthen, Lord, The preachers of Thy holy Word.

May all Thy pastors faithful be; Not lab’ring for themselves, but Thee; And may they feed with wholesome food The sheep and lambs bought by Thy blood; Tending Thy flock, O may they prove How dearly they the Shepherd love!

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for providing faithful pastors, who preach and teach according to Your Word. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
