Light for My Path Daily Devotion

Bible Reading

“Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” (Acts 2:38-39 ESV)

Hymn   ELH 241:1-2   He That Believes and is Baptized

He that believes and is baptized
Shall see the Lord’s salvation;
Baptized into the death of Christ,
He is a new creation.
Through Christ’s redemption he shall stand
Among the glorious heavenly band
Of every tribe and nation.

With one accord, O God, we pray:
Grant us Thy Holy Spirit.
Look Thou on our infirmity
Through Jesus’ blood and merit.
Grant us to grow in grace each day
By holy baptism that we may
Eternal life inherit!

Prayer

Gracious Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of forgiveness and faith, given through baptism to all generations.  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.
