Lord Jesus, unlike the thieves who no doubt struggled as they were affixed to their crosses, You allowed Yourself to be led to the slaughter as a Lamb without defect for me. Thank You for going to the cross of my shame and punishment so willingly even praying to the Father for my forgiveness in my sinful ignorance. Amen.

Lord Jesus as the darkness of the Father’s eternal wrath toward me fell upon You and You experienced my eternal forsakenness and everlasting thirst for righteousness on account of my sin, I thank You for enduring it all for me until You could declare that it was finished. Amen.

Lord Jesus as the light once again appeared as You bowed Your head and breathed Your last, laying down Your life for the sheep, I thank You for giving me hope knowing that death and grave would not hold You, but You would arise to give me life also on the great day of the resurrection of the body. Amen.
